About our local pharmacies in Plymouth and Torquay
Sian Retallick, the managing director of Poolearth Limited, originally purchased Hyde Park Pharmacy in 1989. Sian’s ambition was to provide local pharmacy services centred on individual people’s needs. Years of hard work and a desire to meet the community’s needs have reaped rewards, with Hyde Park Pharmacy having a strong customer base and also receiving rewards for its service to the community.
In 1995, Poolearth purchased a further pharmacy at Ryder Road in Stoke. As with Hyde Park, great attention was paid to developing it into a local pharmacy to fulfil the needs of the local community. July 2005 marked a major change for this pharmacy with the relocation to the GP surgery on St. Levan Road.
Continuing to expand
The company continued to expand in May 2006, with the purchase of an existing local pharmacy in Plymouth; this time on Cumberland Street, Mountwise. In March 2008, Poolearth purchased a small chain of independent pharmacies in Torquay, Devon. These local pharmacies are located in Babbacombe, Shiphay, Chelston and Barton.
By April 2010, the relocation of Shiphay Pharmacy from Banbury Park to Collaton Road was complete and it is now located alongside a doctors surgery.
